Three-class static revenue management model with buy-up behavior

چکیده
We study the optimal booking limits in a three-class static revenue management model with customers' buy-up behavior, where given fraction of customers rejected seat reservation requests each period try to book following periods at higher fares. However, it is difficult apply backward recursion dynamic programming approach this optimization problem, owing dependence demands for period. Specifically, factor $ \beta from third second and another \alpha first period, we derive set two simultaneous equations terms multiple definite integrals involving distribution functions original demand Numerical examples are provided illustrate on $. The maximized expected increases as and/or increase by reducing limits.

Airline Network Revenue Management with Buy-up
The emergence of budget airlines, the advent of new sales channels, the disappearance of traditional fare-class fences, and other on-going changes in the airline industry pose serious challenges to traditional revenue management models, which make some rigid and unrealistic assumptions. One of these is that passengers who do not get the fare they want book and travel on other airlines or do not...
متن کاملSolving Bi-objective Model of Hotel Revenue Management Considering Customer Choice Behavior Using Meta-heuristic Algorithms
The problem of maximizing the benefit from a specified number of a particular product with respect to the behavior of customer choices is regarded as revenue management. This managerial technique was first adopted by the airline industries before being widely used by many others such as hotel industries. The scope of this research is mainly focused on hotel revenue management, regarding which a...
متن کاملRandomization Approaches for Network Revenue Management with Customer Choice Behavior
In this paper, we present new approximation methods for the network revenue management problem with customer choice behavior. Our methods are sampling-based and so we require only minimal assumptions regarding the underlying customer choice model. The starting point for our methods is a dynamic program that allows randomization. An attractive feature of this dynamic program is that the size of ...
متن کاملRevenue Management for Parallel Flights with Customer-Choice Behavior
We consider the simultaneous seat-inventory control of a set of parallel flights between a common origin and destination with dynamic customer choice among the flights. We formulate the problem as an extension of the classic multiperiod, single-flight “block demand” revenue management model. The resulting Markov decision process is quite complex, owing to its multidimensional state space and th...
متن کاملRelationships Among Three Assumptions in Revenue Management
This note discusses the relationships among three assumptions that appear frequently in the pricing/revenue management literature. These assumptions are mostly needed for analytical tractability, and they have the common property of ensuring a well-behaved “revenue function.” The three assumptions are decreasing marginal revenue with respect to demand, decreasing marginal revenue with respect t...
